Breast Collars, Breeching and
Cruppers made by Crest Ridge Saddlery
Crest Ridge Saddlery offers an
assortment of high quality breast collars, breeching and
cruppers especially designed for your gaited horse or
mule. These accessories are all designed to help hold
your saddle in its proper position, regardless of the
build of your horse, the rider or terrain. All of our
gaited horse and mule tack is made from chrome-tanned,
drum-dyed leather with stainless steel hardware.
-
Chrome-tanning uses chromium
sulfate
and other salts of chromium to create a strong yet
supple leather. It is more supple and pliable than
vegetable-tanned leather. Our premium chrome-tanned
leather does not discolor or lose shape as
drastically in water as the more common vegetable or
alum tanned leathers.
-
Drum-dying ensures a deep,
long-lasting, uniform color to the leather. We
offer black, brown and show brown drum-dyed leathers.
Some styles are also available in mahogany.
-
Our high-grade stainless steel
hardware will not rust and does not break, even with
hard use. All of our collars and breeching feature
scissors snaps for quick and one-handed attachment.

Breast Collars & Pulling Collars
Breast collars and pulling collars are designed to
stop the saddle from slipping rearwards while riding.
Saddles can slip towards the rear while going through
hilly terrain, when girths loosen or by the action of
the rider's seat
in the saddle. Our Crest Ridge Saddlery designed
breast collars and pulling collars keep the saddle in
its proper position by preventing the saddle from
slipping rearward.
Instructions for using our 4-Point All-Terrain
Breast Collar
Have a helper when you attach your 4-Point All-Terrain
collar the first time. Hold the collar level and even
across the horse's chest. Attach the 2 upper tugs to the
rings under your swell on the front of the saddle and
adjust the height so that it hangs just under the
horse's esophagus. Then attach the lower tugs to the
cinch ring and adjust those so they are even. Once you
do this step you never have to do it again. When you
finish riding, you simply unsnap the left 2 scissor
snaps and hang the collar on the off side of your
saddle.
Breeching and Cruppers
Breeching and cruppers are designed to stop the
saddle from slipping forward while riding. Saddles
can slip forwards rear while going through hilly
terrain, when girths loosen or by the rider's seat in the
saddle. Mutton withered and round barreled horses and
mules often benefit from breeching or a crupper.
We recommend regular use of
Bickmore's Bick-4 leather conditioner
for cleaning and conditioning your leather tack.
Customer Comments about our Breast Collars and
Breeching
I just wanted to send a quick email to thank you for
your great customer service and product. I ordered a
crupper from you for my Paso Fino last fall. I haven't
had a single problem with the saddle since I got the
crupper, where before, the saddle would slide all over
and give my horse sores. Thank you for the fabulous,
user-friendly, quality product! Teisha
Trail Rider in Utah (April 2010)
We have a wonderful 14 year old Arab
that we have had since he was 3. He is an awesome
horse that can and will do anything you ask of him.
We were getting very worried that we would have to
retire him or make him a kids horse due to his back
problems. We thought that we had tried every
saddle and pad arrangement and was frankly ready to give
up. The horse that could go thirty miles in a day
now got sore after just 10 or so.
Then....we took a vacation to
Tall Pine Resort and luckily met Deb.
She gave our prized horse a look over and gave us a
heavy duty breast collar to try for the day. That
did it! Deb fixed our problems with a simple
breast collar to hold the saddle in the right place for
him.
Thanks a million! Heather Ganske
